The potassium thickens the grass leaf so it stands up better to frost, wear and disease, while just enough ureic nitrogen holds a bit of colour through the cold months. Dilute and spray at 2.5–7.5 ml per m²: a 100 ml bottle covers up to 40 m², the 1 litre up to 400 m².\u003c\/p\u003e\n  \u003cp class=\"mowd-pdp-when\"\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWhen to use it:\u003c\/strong\u003e From early September to late November, while the grass is still growing and the soil is warm enough to take the feed up — you want the potassium in the plant before the first hard frosts. Top up during a mild, dry spell in mid-winter if the lawn looks tired. Don't apply to frozen, waterlogged or drought-stressed grass, or in strong sunshine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n  \u003ch2\u003eWhat does a high-potassium liquid autumn lawn feed do?\u003c\/h2\u003e\n  \u003cp\u003eNitrogen makes grass grow; potassium makes it tough. It thickens the cell walls in the leaf, helps the plant manage water, and improves how well it copes with cold, wear and disease pressure — everything a British lawn faces from October onwards. At 20% potash and only 3% nitrogen, this is firmly a hardening feed rather than a growth feed. That low nitrogen is deliberate: a high-nitrogen feed in late autumn forces soft, sappy leaf just as the weather turns, and soft grass is exactly what frost damages and disease gets into. There's no phosphorus at all, because an established lawn rarely needs it and it does nothing for winter hardiness. Measure out 2.5 ml for every square metre you're treating (up to 7.5 ml for a lawn that's had a hard season) and dilute it in 30–60 ml of water per m², so a full 100 ml bottle goes into 1.2–2.4 litres of water to cover 40 m². Apply evenly with a knapsack or pressure sprayer, or a watering can with a fine rose on a smaller lawn, on a still day when the grass is dry. There's no need to water it in. Wear gloves and eye protection when measuring and mixing, and keep children and pets off the lawn until it's dry.
