About the plans

What is a Mowd lawn plan?

A Mowd lawn plan is a seasonal lawn care subscription. Every 3 months, we send you the right lawn treatments for that time of year β€” pre-measured for your lawn size β€” delivered free to your door. You don't need to research what to buy or remember when to apply it. We handle the "what" and the "when". You handle the spreading.

We offer two plans: the Seasons Lawn Feed Plan (seasonal fertiliser only) and the Seasons Plus Lawn Care Plan (seasonal fertiliser plus targeted supplementary treatments).

What is the difference between the Seasons Lawn Feed Plan and Seasons Plus?

Both plans include a seasonal granular lawn fertiliser every 3 months. The difference is what comes alongside it:

  • Seasons Lawn Feed Plan: 1 product per box (seasonal fertiliser) Β· 4 treatments per year
  • Seasons Plus: 2 products per box (fertiliser + supplementary treatment) Β· 8 treatments per year

The supplementary treatments in Seasons Plus are: soil improver (spring & autumn), wetting agent (summer), and iron sulphate (winter). These address specific seasonal lawn challenges that feeding alone doesn't cover.

Which plan is right for me as a beginner?

Both plans are designed to be accessible to beginners β€” no specialist knowledge required. If you're new to lawn care and just want to start feeding your lawn properly, the Seasons Lawn Feed Plan is the perfect starting point. It does the most important thing: ensures your lawn gets the right nutrition, at the right time, every season.

If you want to go further from the start β€” particularly if your lawn has issues like dry patches, moss, or poor soil β€” the Seasons Plus plan addresses those directly alongside the feeding.

You can always upgrade at any time through the subscriber portal.

Are the treatments safe for children and pets?

Yes β€” once applied and watered in (or rained on), the granules dissolve into the soil and are safe for children and pets to be back on the lawn. While the granules are still visible on the surface, we recommend keeping children and pets off the treated area as a precaution.

Can I buy a plan as a one-off without subscribing?

Yes β€” both plans can be purchased as a one-time buy for the current season. This is a great way to try the products before committing to a subscription. However, there are some differences to be aware of:

  • One-time purchases are not eligible for free delivery (a delivery charge applies)
  • No subscription discount is applied (one-time price is higher)
  • Stock availability is not guaranteed for one-time buyers β€” subscribers' orders are reserved first
Our recommendation: subscribe from the start to lock in 15% off your first delivery and free delivery. You can cancel anytime if it's not for you.
Subscription & billing

Can I cancel my subscription at any time?

Yes, absolutely. There is no minimum term, no lock-in period, and no cancellation fees. You can cancel at any time through our self-service subscriber portal β€” no need to contact us. If you cancel before your next billing date, you will not be charged for the next delivery.

Can I pause my subscription?

Yes. If you want to skip a season β€” perhaps because you're away, your lawn is already well-stocked, or you've just had a change in circumstances β€” you can pause your subscription through the subscriber portal. Your subscription will resume automatically when you're ready, or you can cancel it at any point during a pause.

How does the subscription discount work?

When you subscribe, you receive 15% off your very first delivery. After that, every subsequent delivery is automatically discounted by 5% compared to the one-time purchase price. Delivery is always free for subscribers. These discounts apply automatically β€” you don't need to enter a code.

How do I manage my subscription?

All subscription management is done through Mowd's subscriber portal β€” accessible via your account on mowd.uk. From the portal you can:

  • Pause or cancel your subscription
  • Change your lawn size tier
  • Switch between plans (Seasons Feed ↔ Seasons Plus)
  • View upcoming delivery dates and billing information
  • Update your delivery address

Can I upgrade from Seasons Feed to Seasons Plus?

Yes. You can upgrade to Seasons Plus at any time through the subscriber portal. The change will take effect from your next delivery. You can also downgrade in the same way.

What is the Subscriber Rewards programme?

As a subscriber, you earn points on every order. These points can be redeemed for discounts on future deliveries and for offers on other lawn products, tools and equipment available on mowd.uk. You can check your points balance at any time through your account.

Delivery

Is delivery free?

+

Yes β€” delivery is always free for subscribers on all subscription orders. One-time purchases carry a standard delivery charge. This is one of the key financial advantages of subscribing.

When will I receive my first delivery?

+

Your first delivery is dispatched as soon as you subscribe β€” it contains the current season's treatment. If you subscribe right at the start of a season, your first box will go out almost immediately. Your subsequent deliveries will then follow the seasonal schedule automatically, approximately every 3 months.

When do seasonal deliveries get dispatched?

+

We dispatch each seasonal delivery approximately one month before the season begins, so the product is ready for you to apply at exactly the right time. Our typical dispatch schedule is:

  • 🌱 Spring box: ~February (for March–May application)
  • β˜€οΈ Summer box: ~May (for June–August application)
  • πŸ‚ Autumn box: ~August (for September–November application)
  • ❄️ Winter box: ~November (for December–February application)

Exact dates may vary slightly. Subscribers are always dispatched ahead of one-time buyers.

What if I'm not home when my delivery arrives?

Our deliveries are sent via a tracked courier service. If you're not home, your courier will leave the parcel in a safe location or with a neighbour, or leave a card to arrange redelivery. You can also add delivery instructions to your subscription in the portal. The granular products are not perishable, so they're fine to leave outside or in a porch.

Do you deliver across the whole UK?

Yes β€” we deliver to all mainland UK addresses. Please contact us if you're in Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland or a remote area and have any concerns about delivery timescales.

Lawn sizing

How do I know what size to choose?

+

You need to estimate your lawn's area in square metres (mΒ²). For most rectangular lawns, that's simply length Γ— width. Then select the matching size tier from the dropdown at checkout.

I don't know my exact lawn size β€” how precise do I need to be?

+

Not very precise at all. Our size bands are generous β€” for example, if your lawn is roughly 80mΒ², you'd select the 60–90mΒ² tier and there would be a little product left over, which you can store safely. When in doubt, round up to the next band. It's better to have slightly more product than you need than slightly less.

Many customers also use Google Maps satellite view to estimate their lawn area, which is surprisingly accurate.

Can I update my lawn size after subscribing?

Yes β€” you can update your size tier at any time through the subscriber portal. The change will apply to your next delivery. There's no need to cancel and re-subscribe.

I have a front and back lawn β€” do I need two subscriptions?

+

No. Simply add the areas of both lawns together and select the combined total as your size tier. Your single box will contain enough product to treat both. Our application guide will tell you exactly how to divide it up.

Applying treatments

Do I need specialist equipment to apply the treatments?

+

No. All Mowd treatments are granular β€” the same format used on professional sports turf. They can be applied by hand (wearing gloves) for smaller lawns, or with a garden spreader for more even coverage on larger areas. A broadcast or drop spreader gives the most even distribution, but is not essential. A watering can or garden hose is useful to water the treatment in after applying.

How do I apply the treatments?

Full application instructions are included with every delivery. The general process is:

  • Mow your lawn a day or two beforehand
  • Weigh out the correct amount for your lawn (guidance is on the bag)
  • Apply evenly across the whole lawn using a spreader or by hand
  • Water in lightly, or apply before expected rainfall
  • Keep pets and children off until granules dissolve

Can I apply both products in the Seasons Plus box at the same time?

Yes β€” for most seasons, you can apply both products on the same day or across consecutive days. Full guidance on timing is included in each delivery. There's no need to wait between applying the fertiliser and the supplementary treatment.

What happens after I apply iron sulphate (winter β€” Seasons Plus)?

+

After applying iron sulphate, any moss in your lawn will turn black within 7–14 days. This is completely normal β€” it means it's working. Once the moss has blackened and died, it should be scarified or raked out (ideally in spring) before applying your spring box. The iron sulphate also gives your lawn a rich dark green colour, which typically lasts several weeks.

Can I store unused product?

Yes β€” granular lawn products store very well. Keep them in a cool, dry location out of direct sunlight (a shed or garage is ideal) and they'll be fine to use for the following season. Make sure bags are sealed or re-sealed to keep moisture out.

Results & lawn advice

How long before I see results?

Results vary depending on the season, your soil type, and your lawn's starting condition, but most customers notice a visible improvement in colour and density within 2–4 weeks of their first application. Spring applications tend to produce the most dramatic visible results as the lawn comes out of its winter dormancy and starts growing actively.

For the best long-term results, consistent seasonal feeding over multiple seasons is key. Lawns that have been underfed for years typically need one full year on a plan before they show their full potential.

What if my lawn doesn't seem to be responding?

Reach out to us β€” this is exactly what our lawn support service is for. There are several reasons a lawn might not respond as expected: application during the wrong temperature conditions, soil that's very compacted, poor drainage, or an underlying issue like a grub infestation or disease. Our team will help you diagnose the issue and advise on the best course of action.

Do I need to do anything else besides apply my Mowd treatments?

Mowd treatments address fertilisation and specific seasonal challenges, but a great lawn also benefits from a few good practices alongside your plan:

  • Mow regularly during the growing season β€” not too short (leave at least 4cm)
  • Water during prolonged dry spells, particularly in summer
  • Scarify or rake out dead moss and thatch annually (typically in autumn)
  • Overseed any bare patches in spring or autumn

Don't worry β€” you don't need to do all of this perfectly. Consistent feeding alone makes a significant difference. Our team is happy to advise on any aspect of lawn care.

Can I get personalised lawn advice?

I'm completely new to lawn care β€” where do I start?

Start with the Seasons Lawn Feed Plan. Consistent, seasonal feeding is the foundation of good lawn care β€” and it's the single most impactful change you can make. Once your lawn is on a regular feeding programme, you'll start to see improvements relatively quickly, even if it's been neglected for years.
