Frequently asked questions
Will Downcast get rid of the worms in my lawn?
Downcast won't get rid of the worms — and you wouldn't want it to, as worms are great for your soil. Instead it encourages them to stay below the surface, where they aerate the root zone without leaving casts on top.
How long does this worm treatment last?
On typical lawns and pitches it keeps worms below the surface for a month or so. Heavy worm-cast infestations may need a fortnightly application.
Does Downcast hurt the worms?
No. Downcast doesn't kill or harm the worms — it simply encourages them away from the surface.
Is Downcast a worm repellent?
In effect, yes — it encourages worms down away from the surface, which actively reduces the worm casts you see on top.
How do I get rid of worm casts?
First, disperse existing casts mechanically — a brush or switch pole before mowing works well. For severe infestations, or where daily brushing isn't practical, apply Downcast to encourage the worms below the surface and stop new casts forming.
